Since Summer 2007, THE TASTE (NICK/drums and MARIA PATTUSCH/vocals, guitars) have been on the road as a duo (after starting out as a trio in 2004). In just a few months they’ve achieved what many other bands just dream about, having their track “Can’t Get Enough of Your Dang-Da-Dang” released in August on the “Fresh, Weird & Wonderful” compilation (Pistol Records, the label of ex-INXS manager Chris Murphy) which managed to reach Nr. 8 on the iTunes UK Alternative Album Charts as well as Nr. 68 on iTunes US.
This track from THE TASTE was the best selling one on the compilation and still is in Germany and the USA. Their song “Till There Was You” was subsequently released in October on the “Out of the Woods and Trees” compilation (UK, Dance to the Radio) alongside contributions from bands like FORWARD RUSSIA!, THE PIGEON DETECTIVES, HOWLING BELLS, SKY LARKIN and the GRAMMATICS. During the last few months THE TASTE have performed countless gigs in the UK, Germany and Austria. While doing so they have also toured as support act for JAMIE T., WE ARE SCIENTISTS, THE NOISETTES, FORWARD RUSSIA, TEST ICICLES, DUELS, SHITDISCO, THE ENEMY and TRAVIS.
TRAVIS were so impressed with the band that they immediately invited THE TASTE to do some additional dates with them back on their home turf in Scotland. FRAN HEALY & Co. were so thrilled with the song “Till There Was You” that they performed it twice with the band on stage.
Now on Rank Records, the long awaited debut single of the band is finally being released: “I Want You” (B-Side: “I Die When the Night Comes”) as a limited and numbered 7” vinyl single.
‘I WANT YOU’ reached **** STARS in ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE 03/2008
ARTROCKER announcement for the short notice show on 28th august 2007 @artrocker club night:
“Believing in the tradition of ‘classic’ indie of ‘We are Scientists’, ‘Franz Ferdinand’ and ‘Bloc Party’, Germany’s The Taste deliver a pretty rocked out garage-power-duo of girl fronted r’n’r. They have been picked as local support for the likes of Test Icicles, Forward Russia, Noisettes, The Enemy and the ever smart and on the ball Dance To The Radio Records in Leeds have included the fuzztone riff monster of a track ‘Till There Was You’ on their current Sampler CD ‘Out of the Woods and Trees’ Choc full of rock’n’roll guitar swagger and snarling attitude The Taste are only here on the briefest of UK visits.”
THIS IS FAKE DIY announcement for the show on 21st august 2007 @this is fake diy live night:
“Munich based duo Maria and Nick Pattusch are gracing the Old Blue Last as part of their fourth English tour. Their disjointed indie-rock is as infectious as it is experimental. Recent support slots have included Jamie T and Shitdisco in their native Germany. The Taste make plenty of noise but there’s plenty of melody in there too. Catch them before they leave our shores!”
ROLLING STONE 12/2007:
“Melodie und Bruch, Ach und Krach mit beeindruckender Empathie, muss also was werden.”
